If Being Different is Okay, Then Why is it Punished?

“If being #Different is okay, then why is it #punished?”
I decided to make this piece, another portrait of the character that I am designing for my illustrated book, basically because of how I have, and others have, been punished for being different!
Whether it’s mental health, physical health, learning disabilities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Being different is said to be okay, and supported, but people often get punished for it through discrimination.

Inspiration taken from: Debbie Drechsler, Charles Burns, William Kentridge, Killoffer, and Edward Gorey.
