After spending the afternoon with my model, I decided to take the photos and “comic book ‘ize’” them.

This is the first one I’ve done. The picture was taken of her ‘screaming’.

I took inspiration from René Magritte, Edward Gorey, and Charles Burns.

I used Sketchbook Pro (PC) which gave me the opportunity use chalks and flecked brushes in order to add tone.

I used the chalks for the skin in order to add more tone to the skin, adding both darker and pinker shades in certain areas.

I then used the flecked brushes in order to make a scratched look for the hair to show the individual hair strands.

The reason for doing such a pose is due to my exploration of PTSD. I would use self portraits if it wasn’t for my other issues, in order make it more personal, but I ‘bottled’ it and decided to get a friend to help.
